TAKING BIG STEPS! I recently found out that I would not be getting any financial aid for graduate school (a travesty of this country) but am more excited about my new plans! I've always been passionate about women and children, raising healthy babies, living a minimalist-ic and healthful life, sourcing out eco-friendly and sustainable options for all aspects of life, and advocating for people to live their best lives. In that, I have recently undergone a Birth Doula training and am currently completing curriculum through The Fifth Vital Sign's Conversations in the Community program. This program basically states that the menstrual cycle in those that possess female anatomy should be included in the conversation when talking about health (as blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature, and respiration rate are). I believe that there needs to be more education for women on how their bodies work, how to nourish them, and how to advocate for their right to choose what happens to them.
With that, THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS ME WANTING TO PULL MY HAIR OUT. I am hopeful that I encourage those that are here to start listening up to what is going on, supporting what they believe in, and lifting those around them up to do the same. We need to be in this together!
I have spent the last few years of my undergraduate college career studying up on reproductive rights, reproductive health, women's rights, and how to eliminate the stigma with pleasure based sexuality. Why do people become uncomfortable when talking about sex, sexuality, periods, vulvas, vaginas, LGBTQ+ sex, childbirth, the opportunity for women to make their OWN decision about themselves, and women succeeding in this world? Why are people uncomfortable? Is it lack of information? Doesn't everyone have a mom? Shouldn't more people be asking these questions? Why aren't more people outraged at the information that's out there?
I have been asking these questions for quite some time now and no one seems to have an answer for me. So, I have made it my goal to talk about sex and babies. Sex typically makes babies and babies cause childbirth and childbirth is probably the most incredible thing in this world. If someone doesn't start answering these questions RIGHT NOW, when will someone step up to do so? If that someone is not me, who will it be? Well, the answer is me. And I am doing so now. I am here to ruffle the feathers of those who don't want to talk about it. The world can't wait any longer.
